.Here at the edge of the Yadkin Valley Appellation lies
Blue Ridge Vineyards, where we have selected viniferous varieties of grapes from European root stock (Syrah, Chardonnay, Semillon, and Barbera). Fruit trees such as apple, pear, and peach are planted at the edge of the vineyard for cross-pollination and subtlety of flavor. Vines are hand-tended in an attempt to minimize the use of chemicals, thereby promoting a healthier and tastier end product.

Being a working farm includes harvesting fresh eggs from our own free-range chickens and vegetables from our organic garden, as well. The fruit trees in the orchard, which line the vineyard, are as yet too immature to bear edible fruit, but we look forward to the day that they produce.
Roses also punctuate the end of each row of grapevines. True to European tradition, roses have long been an early prognosticator of certain pests or diseases that might permeate the vineyard.
There is also a spring-fed pond on this 15-acre farm, complete with a windmill and irrigation system for the vineyard. Despite the relative humidity in this region, there are still a number of high-degree days which contribute to the intensity of the fruit.

The owners of Blue Ridge Vineyards, Adelia and Randy Gram, are also sympathetic to animal rescue; therefore, you might see one of their many adopted cats and dogs surveying the rows in the vineyard.

Blue Ridge Vineyards is currently not open to the public, but the farmhouse is available for small meetings and events by prior arrangement. Thank you for your interest in our wines…..we look forward to your sampling them when they will be available for sale Spring 2009.
